Get to know our fantastic staff in Kovan.

Teacher Richard came to Singapore from the UK. Before joining our Kovan team, he taught at our Yishun centre. Richard
’s experience and dedication are highly valued by his colleagues.  His teaching ethos is “When it rains on your parade, look up rather than look down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow”.

Teacher Chris came to Singapore from the US. After
more than two years of teaching in South Korea Chris was excited to join I Can Read Singapore. In his free time, he likes to read and drink good coffee.

Teacher Jonathan joined I Can Read in 2017. Before that, he taught and coached kids aged between five and fifteen for over seven years. Jonathan believes that a teacher should guide, coach and motivate students to achieve their fullest potential. Jonathan’s hobbies are reading and exploring Singapore.

Teacher Jacob holds a degree in Anthropology from the University of Nevada Reno. He gained his teaching experience in South Korea where he worked with the grades ranging from pre-school to middle school. Jacob is passionate about travelling and games that have an in-depth strategy.

Teacher Priya is a passionate educator with over fifteen years of teaching experience and eight years with I Can Read. She enjoys working at I Can Read because the impact we have on our student's lives gives her a sense of fulfilment.

Teacher Lucy holds a BA in English and Education Studies from Sheffield Haliam University. She began her teaching career in Thailand where she taught both primary and secondary students. Her hobbies are reading, writing and swimming.

Teacher Maretta came to Singapore from Australia. She has a wealth of teaching experience from France, Portugal and Qatar. In her free time, Maretta volunteers at a local animal shelter and enjoys sampling local cuisine.

Teacher Pauline holds a BA in Childhood and Family Education. She has been teaching at I Can Read for over nine years. Pauline hobbies are handicrafts, bowling and badminton. 

Teacher Shoba has been working at I Can Read since 2005. She is extremely dedicated and passionate about working with children. Shoba has always been inspired by the quote “Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression”.

Teacher Karen specialises in Early Childhood Education and has been working in the field for over nine years. Outside the classroom, Karen enjoys good movies and books.
