Ms. CHAN Huang Yee

 

Ms. Chan graduated with a Bachelor in Accountancy from Singapore’s prestigious Nanyang Technological University. She began her career in the finance department of an international pulp and paper company. She grew to manage and expand the finance operations in Asia, America and also at its Japan headquarters.

She was then headhunted by MEC, part of the US- and UK-listed WPP Group in 2001. She was posted to Hong Kong SAR to lead the finance sector as Finance Director for Greater China. Her portfolio grew and she was made Asia Pacific Chief Finance Officer for MEC in 2003. Ms. Chan was credited for the expansion of MEC in Asia Pacific through new market entries, joint ventures and acquisitions.

In 2006, Ms. Chan was appointed Chief Operating Officer (China/Regional) and CFO of MEC’s parent company, GroupM Asia Pacific, also WPP’s media investment division. She grew and expanded new, diversified revenue streams, operational efficiency and productivity in the finance and commercial operations of the group’s four agency networks in China.

Ms. Chan later ran a consulting practice specialising in CFO outsourcing, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As), transaction services, organisational restructuring and business process improvements.

Her contribution to I Can Read comes from her illustrious 14-year career in finance, strategy and management. Fluent in corporate cultures in Asia, Ms. Chan also has a well-honed finger on the pulse of businesses in the region. She is able to consult and provide franchisees with insights and foresights to run an I Can Read centre smoothly and successfully.
 

Mr. TAN Aik Ping

 

Mr. Tan is a graduate from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor in Computer Science. He started his career as a System Analyst for KPMG where he was responsible for developing and maintaining proprietary software used by banks in Asia. He then joined Druid – a subsidiary of a UK-listed firm – as a SAP Supply Chain/Finance consultant. There he took on several global portfolios before he was made the head of a new e-business division, where he was responsible for creating a new line of business for the company.

Mr. Tan is also a serial entrepreneur. In 2001, he co-founded Ledge Consulting Pte Ltd, a company specialising in Enterprise Resource Planning and Supply Chain consulting. Mr. Tan grew it to one of the top SAP channel partners in South East Asia, from a four-man team to more than 40 full-time consultants. It was subsequently acquired by Malaysian listed ISS Consulting Solutions Bhd in 2007 where Mr Tan served as an Executive Director until March 2010.

In 2000, Mr. Tan began yet another venture, Azign Technologies Pte Ltd. It specialised in Uninterruptible Power Supply, Environmental Monitoring Systems as well as Renewable Energy Systems. Azign Technologies was recognised as the top mid-market consulting and systems provider in Singapore with customers in key sectors such as telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing and defence. The company was subsequently acquired by its key equipment provider Riello Elettronica from Italy. Over the same period, he co-founded Encore Services Pte Ltd, a certified training centre for SAP Business Suite for SAP consulting professionals. The company was sold in 2004.

Mr. Tan began his journey with I Can Read as a franchisee of two centres in Singapore. Merging his entrepreneurial spirit with methodological engineering training, he has grown from a multi-unit I Can Read franchisee to owning the I Can Read brand in Asia and the Middle East. He uses his intimate knowledge of running his I Can Read centres to help new franchisees who may have faced similar problems as he.
 

Mr. NGO Tong Yong

Like Ms. CHAN, Mr. Ngo is an alumnus of Nanyang Technological University, where he graduated with a Bachelor in Accountancy. He began his career as an auditor with Arthur Andersen Singapore where he handled external financial audits as well as special projects for clients.

In 1997, Mr. Ngo entered the civil service as a Senior Officer at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), a government linked agency. His role was to promote and administer the Regional Headquarters and the Business Headquarters schemes offered by EDB to multinational companies. He left in 1998 and joined Druid (a subsidiary of a UK-listed firm). As a consultant, he was involved in various SAP and Siebel projects in Singapore and overseas markets.
In 2001, he co-founded Ledge Consulting Pte Ltd together with Mr. Tan. He was instrumental in leading Ledge from a four-man team to a leading SAP channel partner in Singapore. Mr. Ngo handled the company's operations, human resources, financials and administrative matters. The company was subsequently acquired by Malaysian listed ISS Consulting Solutions Bhd in 2007 where Mr. Ngo served as an Executive Director until March 2010.

Over the same period, he co-founded Encore Services Pte Ltd, a certified training centre for SAP Business Suite for SAP consulting professionals. The company was acquired in 2004.

In 2010, Mr Ngo co-founded a recruitment consulting firm, Précis Partners, which specialises in placement and HR solutions for SAP consultants.

Mr. Ngo brings his wealth of experience as a small business consultant and owner to the I Can Read family. Today, Mr. Ngo heads Regional Operations at the I Can Read headquarters located in Singapore.
